Hey there! I’m here today to talk about some of the most memorable locations that I’ve shot weddings/ engagements. I actually have three top locations that I really enjoyed, all of which were in more of the downtown Atlanta area. I have had the pleasure of shooting weddings in multiple states, and out of all of the locations I have been to, my favorites are located in the city I’ve always called home.
The first location is located on the westside of Atlanta, an area that I continue to be drawn towards as a photographer. This part of town has more rustic, older buildings and I always feel very inspired by structures with history. One place that I love the most is the Goat Farm. This location is a little hidden community that is full of artists. Unfortunately, this area no longer allows photography or weddings as it did in the past. Moreover, when I found out that I no longer could shoot there I was just devastated. Taking photos at this location made me feel like I was in a dream, the creative juices were overflowing each time I shot at this site. I truly found beauty in the edgy, broken glass trains in the background and also in the mix of brick and steel. I can also honestly say having goats and a cute little coffee shop on site really makes me all happy inside.
My second favorite location to shoot at is a site that’s pretty close to the Goat Farm called King Plow. King Plow is another location for artists, and honestly I think anything that supports local artists always inspires me. I also really love that it’s smaller and kind of hidden; at a quick glance you wouldn’t know that there’s a small park area available which also has a super cute swing which I love. I feel that the unexpected element of this location makes me happy and again, yes, we’re back to my love for steel and older brick; however, at this location it’s also softened by the abundant greenery. I can remember specifically one of the nights that I shot a wedding there; it was such an amazing experience. I was performing what I call a night shot and the lighting was something I had never seen before. The clouds and city night air created this reddish glow that gave me a spectacular background. That night created a moment as a photographer I’ve never forgotten.
The third location I love is more of a hidden park on the Emory campus in downtown Atlanta called Lullwater Preserve. I like this location because it provides a lot of variety all in one park. This setting supplies you with a lake, waterfall, swinging bridge, and also an older vintage building. A little bonus from this site includes the deer that you’ll see on almost every visit. They are not scared of people at all; it’s actually the closest I’ve ever gotten to deer other than and a petting zoo, yeah I’m kind of into animals. Anyway, this is part of Emory so the park is well-maintained and always beautiful and I actually can’t wait to take some fall photos there this year.
I hope this lets you know more of who I am and what I love. I can’t wait to hear about the favorite locations you all have!
I would love to hear your personal favs!
